Love Expressed

We love makan-makan which brings lots of joy in the company of the right people. Catching up with news of each other in the big extended family, enjoying the loud conversations, and simply sitting together in the warm and kind relationship.

Add to that the stories behind the special dishes that bring old memories of love as expressed in the family. An old father's effort to go to the market by bus to get all the ingredients, and making the dishes while waiting for the grown up daughter to arrive home from the city.

Now all that is gone, it's especially touching when someone else in the family remembers to bring the good times back by preparing and serving the special dishes for the younger sister. It was amazing and I am truly grateful for all the love.

Jazakallahu khairan kathira. I had been missing a lot of things, a lot.

Taken for Granted

Lots of things in modern world are taken for granted. We are very dependent on electricity that once that blessing is taken away, we feel it in our every breath! Now how do we sleep without electrical appliances that help us get comfortable in bed especially during El Nino?

Doesn't it hit too close to home?

Oh the things we take for granted!
How many of our fellow brothers and sisters live without such comfort every day for years? Allah is reminding me.
